Kinsale Pottery and Arts Centre

Try your hand at pottery making

You'll get a good introduction to the artistic side of Ireland at the Kinsale Pottery and Arts Centre from a skilled potter; the Centre specializes in pottery / ceramics, glass fusing, jewelry-making, and mosaic-making. Techniques you might learn include throwing on the potter's wheel, coiling a small sculpture, and learning decorative and sculpting techniques. Local artisans will show you how to make pottery, helping you hand-build and paint your sculpted piece. Or you can try your hand at Celtic jewelry making, using a range of skills covered in today's class – design, threading, knotting, fitting crimps and finishing – all in a workshop in the converted stables of the home farm for Ballinacurra House, dating from the late 1700s.

Evening at an Irish farm

Day 7

Special farewell evening – a Ceili at an Irish farm

Get set for a special farewell evening at an Irish farm – a Ceili, which is a traditional Irish social event. Watch as skilled sheepdogs expertly herd the farm's woolly flocks; see a sheep-shearing demonstration; feed the lambs; and enjoy a hearty Irish dinner.

Live the royal life for two nights at Dromoland Castle

Nights 6 and 7

Spend two nights at award-winning Dromoland Castle, ancestral home of the O'Briens

Spend two nights at one of the most famous castles in Europe... From your first glimpse of Dromoland and its enchanting lake, as you pass through the castle gates, you'll fall under Dromoland's spell. Under glittering antique chandeliers descend grand staircases and meander through elegant hallways and beautifully furnished rooms – the decor is just as you imagine a fairy tale castle should be, such as plush, sink-in sofas in front of large, ornate fireplaces with blazing log fires. During your stay you'll learn about the time-honored art of falconry from a raptor expert who shows you how to take one of these magnificent hawks on a walk – or perhaps you'll feed the ducks... take a boat out on the lovely lake... visit the spa… and more.

Something that I thought was cool is that I got to kiss the Blarney stone! Blarney is similar to charm and means "the gift of gab."
