South Africa: An Elegant Adventure

We are taking this trip in May and are curious as to the variety of food available such as seafood and vegetarian dishes. Should of course not be an issue In Cape Town, but wonder about in the Camps. Also, for those that went in late May, what type of weather did you experience? Repeat Tauck travelers and this trip is highly anticipated. Thanks.

  • Food is excellent everywhere, plenty of vegetarian choices. May is wintertime, take warm clothing for early morning and evenings. Cape Town is likely to be rainy, it’s pretty miserable there when it rains.

Food is excellent everywhere - lunch in Soweto and lunch on the penguin tour were okay, Kirstenbosch Gardens lunch was great!

You have a chance to list your dietary requirements at the Welcome Reception, but I would also reiterate directly with the Tour Director.

We had wonderful seafood in Cape Town, fish was on the menu at a lot of the safari camps and other hotels. We had several vegetarians with us, and they seemed to get enough to eat and enjoy it.

We don't eat fish, so those dishes were seemlessly swapped out on special dining nights with wonderful replacements.

You will have no problem with food, tea time, breakfast, etc.!
